Make Your Guitar Talk
This is an easy-to-use effect for guitarists that your audiences will long remember!
A talkbox is a device that produces the classic "talking guitar sound" as used by Peter Frampton, Joe Walsh, Alice in Chains, Roger Troutman, and many others. With it, the guitarist can produce vowel-like sounds, words and/or phrases.
The talkbox works on the principle of directing amplified sound into the mouth of the performer. The performer's lips and vocal cavities (mouth, throat, and larynx) further modulate and shape the sound.
You can buy a commercial talkbox or even make your own. Best of all, we've developed online diagrams, plans, parts list, sources of supply, and audio examples in a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document.
