Brett (aka Lame Excuse) is a Seattle native that has wanted to play guitar ever since he can remember.

Brett's been in a few bands over the years, including Traveller, Steamer, Local Hero, FishLips, The Blame, Plunge, and now THE EXCUSES. He's purposefully left out a few bands, because he doesn't want to admit that he was ever in them!

Besides lead guitar, Brett has played keyboards in a variety of bands, some of which are listed in the NW Band Archives.

Brett is always trying to balance his family interests with his many hobbies and his music. At one point he simultaneously played in a band six nights a week, had a full-time day job, took evening classes at a local college, ran a storefront business in downtown Olympia, spent time with his steady girlfriend, and managed to enjoy a whopping 2-3 hours of sleep a night!

Needless to say, the house of cards eventually crumbled: Brett left the band, married his sweetheart, turned the retail store into a mail-order business, finished his studies, and started another band!
