   Andy Etue
Drums, percussion, vocals

Andy at St. Martin's College main stage Andy Etue (aka Great Excuse) is the high flyer of the band. A licensed pilot, Andy takes to the air when he's not gigging with THE EXCUSES.

Andy is a former member of The Toucans steel drum band, based out of Seattle. That's well and good, you ask, but can he rock? You bet your sweet bippy he does!

THE EXCUSES give Andy a chance to show off his percussional diversity on tunes such as "Desire" (U2), where he goes beyond the basic beat to include sub-beats and tribal polyrhythms.

But it's what the song demands that dictates the style Andy delivers. An example is the ZZ Top tune "Sharp Dressed Man" that calls for a perfectly timed, almost mechanized steady beat. In that tune, Andy's right there, layin' down a groove so thick you can slice it with a knife.

Andy's infectious smile and great beats are guaranteed to get you out on the dance floor!
